The Department of Archaeology & Museums (DOAM) is looking to hire an experienced Assistant Director (Research) for a contract-based position in Islamabad.

Job Description and Responsibilities

As an Assistant Director (Research), your primary responsibility will be to support and oversee the development, conservation, and preservation of archaeological monuments and sites in Pakistan.

The role involves extensive research, monitoring, and project management within the department. Here are some of the key responsibilities associated with this position:

1. Survey of Archaeological Sites and Monuments: You will be responsible for conducting detailed surveys of archaeological monuments and sites to assess their condition and conservation needs.

2. Conservation and Development Planning: Prepare detailed plans for the conservation and development of archaeological sites, ensuring these sites are preserved for future generations while making them accessible to the public.

3. Project Monitoring: Oversee the implementation of conservation and development projects, ensuring that they stay on track and within the allocated budgets.

4. Proposal Preparation for Grants: Prepare proposals for seeking cultural grants and funding to support the preservation of monuments and archaeological sites across the country.

5. Master Plans Development: Lead the development of Master Plans that outline long-term strategies for the conservation and development of archaeological sites and monuments.

6. Research and Publications: Contribute to the scholarly community by publishing research articles in reputable journals, particularly focused on conservation challenges related to archaeological sites.

7. Project Management Software: Proficiency in project management software, particularly IPAS (Integrated Project Administration System), will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the position of Assistant Director (Research), you must meet the following qualifications:

1. Minimum Education: A Bachelor’s degree along with a Three-Year Diploma in Associate Engineering (Civil) is required.

2. Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the following areas:

• Surveying archaeological monuments and sites.
• Preparing conservation and development plans.
• Monitoring and managing projects related to archaeological preservation.
• Writing proposals for cultural grants to preserve and protect heritage sites.
• Publishing research on conservation issues faced by archaeological sites and monuments.
