Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements: The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture Engineering. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and technical skills required to manage complex plant operations.
Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in plant operations and general management within a seed company is required. The candidate must have hands-on experience in overseeing various aspects of seed production, from processing to quality control.
Position Responsibilities
As the Plant Manager for Seed Production, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties that are critical to the success of the plant’s operations. These include:
- Directing Plant Operations: You will oversee all aspects of plant operations, including seed production, maintenance, quality control, and other production-related activities. Your role is to ensure that the plant runs efficiently and meets the company’s production targets.
- Seed Processing Oversight: You will be in charge of the entire seed processing operation, from raw seeds to finished products. This includes processing open-pollinated varieties of field crops and vegetables, managing corn dryers, and processing hybrid corn seeds.
- Ensuring Quality Standards: One of your key responsibilities will be to establish and monitor the plant’s performance against production and quality standards. You will ensure that the seeds produced meet the established quality criteria, which is crucial for the company’s reputation and customer satisfaction.
- Managerial Duties: Your role will require strong managerial skills to plan and execute all crop seed processing operations according to the seed supply timeline. You will also manage the labor and plant processing staff, ensuring that all activities, such as sewing bags, stacking, conditioning, sampling, and maintaining equipment, are carried out efficiently.
