Key Responsibilities of the Head of Compliance

As the Head of Compliance at EXIM Bank of Pakistan, your role will include a wide range of responsibilities to ensure that the bank operates within the bounds of legal and regulatory frameworks. Key responsibilities include:

  • Compliance Strategy Development: Formulate and implement the bank’s compliance strategy, ensuring it aligns with regulatory requirements and the bank’s mission.
  • Policy and Procedure Implementation: Develop and enforce compliance policies, including KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), CFT (Combating the Financing of Terrorism), and Proliferation Financing.
  • Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) Framework: Establish and implement a TBML risk mitigation framework tailored to the bank’s operations and aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) guidelines.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Coordinate with SBP during inspections, respond to regulatory inquiries, and maintain strong communication channels with regulators.
  • Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR): Oversee the STR process, ensuring suspicious transactions are identified and reported in accordance with SBP regulations.
  • Internal Compliance Audits: Lead internal reviews of policies, procedures, and banking products to ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing compliance team, providing them with guidance and training on regulatory requirements.

Experience and Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Head of Compliance, you need:

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience working in compliance in Pakistan’s financial sector, with at least 4 years in senior management roles.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a relevant field (Master’s degree preferred), from an HEC-recognized university.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: A strong understanding of SBP regulations, AML/CFT laws, and other relevant compliance frameworks.
