Job Overview

Position: HTC Counselor – HIV Testing and Counseling

Location: Kasur, Punjab, Pakistan

Experience: 3 to 5 years in a relevant field

Qualification: Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field

Shift: First Shift (Day)

Key Responsibilities

As an HTC Counselor, you will play a crucial role in providing HIV testing and counseling services. Your responsibilities will include:

Planning and Establishing HTC Services

1. Work with the Site Manager to plan and set up HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) services for People Who Inject Drugs (PWIDs) and their partners.

Counseling and Support

2. Conduct pre- and post-test counseling sessions for clients.

3. Provide family counseling with client consent, following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

4. Conduct follow-up sessions with clients who have reintegrated with their families and maintain detailed records.

Referral Services

5. Refer clients for further testing, medical services, HIV prevention, and HIV/AIDS care and support.

6. Coordinate with Social Mobilizers for ART (Antiretroviral Therapy) referral services for reactive clients.

Record Keeping and Reporting

7. Maintain confidential records of client information and test results.

8. Prepare daily reports and submit them to the Site Manager.

9. Maintain HTC files, monitoring charts, and referral linkage lists.

Team Collaboration

10. Attend daily meetings with staff to discuss client issues and HTC-related matters.

11. Coordinate with Field Supervisors to track clients for HTC services.

Specialized Counseling

12. Provide motivation and psychological assessment for HIV+ clients to link them with ART services.

13. Conduct special counseling sessions on relapse prevention, ART adherence, and overdose prevention.

Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should have:

1. A Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field.

2. 3 to 5 years of experience in HIV testing and counseling.

3. Knowledge of lab procedures and revenue analysis.

4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

5. A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to working with clients.
