Job Description

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab Police is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Psychologist (BS-17). This role is a critical component of the department’s efforts to enhance its psychological assessment and support services.

Age Limit:

  • Male: 25-35 years
  • Female: 25-35 years

Qualification Options:

  • Option 1: M.Sc. or MS (second division) in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university or institute
  • Option 2: M.Sc. (second division) in Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences from a recognized university or institute
  • Option 3: BS (four years, second division) with an advanced diploma in Clinical Psychology from a recognized university or institute

Experience: Two years of experience in the relevant field in a public or private organization

Important Note: Only practical experience gained after acquiring the prescribed qualification will be considered. Experience in private entities will be accepted only if the entity is registered with SECP, Registrar of Firms, or any other Regulatory Authority.

Syllabus for Written Examination

The selection process includes a written examination comprising a one-paper, MCQ-type test. The test will last for 90 minutes and will be worth 100 marks.

Qualification-related questions (80%): This section will focus on the specific knowledge required for the job, such as Clinical Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences.

General Ability (20%): This section will test your knowledge in areas such as:

General Age Relaxation: Age relaxation will be granted as per the Civil Servants Recruitment (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1976. However, no general age relaxation is applicable beyond these rules.

Role and Responsibilities of a Psychologist in CTD

As a Psychologist in the Counter Terrorism Department, you will play a crucial role in supporting law enforcement efforts through psychological assessments, counseling, and crisis intervention.

Your duties will involve working closely with law enforcement officers, analyzing behavior patterns, and providing insights that are critical in counterterrorism operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Psychological Assessment: Conduct psychological evaluations of individuals to assess their mental state and potential risks.
  • Counseling Services: Provide counseling to law enforcement personnel dealing with high-stress situations, trauma, and other psychological challenges.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to critical incidents and provide immediate psychological support to victims and first responders.
  • Behavioral Analysis: Analyze the behavior of suspects and individuals of interest to assist in investigations and threat assessments.
  • Training and Workshops: Conduct training sessions for law enforcement personnel to enhance their understanding of psychological issues and improve their response strategies.
