The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA), one of the most important government organizations in Pakistan, is looking for a Senior Network Engineer.

NADRA is responsible for managing the country’s national identity database, including the issuance of identity cards, passports, and other vital statistics. The Senior Network Engineer position is a contract consultant role based in Islamabad, with applications open until October 20, 2024. Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience working with networks and communication systems.

  • If holding a foreign degree, HEC equivalence is required.
  • Proficiency in communication media, network firewalling, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection, network switching, and cloud networking.

Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Network Engineer will play a vital role in maintaining and optimizing NADRA’s complex network infrastructure. As NADRA handles large amounts of sensitive data, network security and efficient communication systems are crucial for the organization. The role includes responsibilities such as:

  • Managing communication media and network systems: You will be responsible for ensuring that NADRA’s internal and external communication systems are functioning efficiently and securely.
  • Network security and firewalling: Securing NADRA’s network systems is a critical part of the job. This includes managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and DDoS protection to protect sensitive national data.
  • Switching and routing management: Overseeing the installation, configuration, and management of network switches and routers is key to maintaining efficient and secure communication pathways.
  • Cloud networking: With more data moving to cloud environments, knowledge of cloud networking and ensuring secure access to these platforms is vital for this role.
  • Collaborating with IT teams: You will work closely with other technical teams within NADRA, ensuring that network systems are integrated and functioning as part of the broader IT infrastructure.
  • Ensuring uptime and efficiency: Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting any issues that arise to ensure minimal downtime and high performance of NADRA’s systems.
